Join the up and coming Surgical Critical Care team atBackus Hospital, the only trauma center in the state east of theConnecticut River. This opportunity affords the Advanced PracticeProvider (APP) a unique role in shaping the team’s culture andprocesses to create a positive and productive work environment. TheAPP will be an essential part of the multidisciplinary team thatdelivers care for complex surgical and trauma patients in thecritical care and stepdown units at Backus Hospital, includingrounding and performing procedures. A growing clinical team oftenmeans increased responsibilities, which is a great way to challengeyourself and develop new skills.

Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants Role Scope:
Underestablished guidelines and in collaboration and/or supervision withthe practice physician(s), Nurse Practitioners and PhysicianAssistants perform routine physical examinations, and formulatemedical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients. Inconsultation with the physician(s) and care team members, NursePractitioners and Physician Assistants develop plans for furtherevaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health teammembers or specialists. Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistantsprovide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of theprovider’s practice as designated by protocols and identifiesproblems outside of their scope of practice and refersappropriately to physician.
