We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Physician Assistant to join our Panama City, FL, healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care in various settings, including General-Family and Urgent Care environments. This role requires a strong understanding of medical standards and practices, particularly in a Urgent Care setting. The Physician Assistant will work collaboratively with Medical Director and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care to patients.
Qualified Candidates:
Comfortable seeing ages three months and up.
Have state of Florida medical licensure.
Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop appropriate treatment plans.
Perform diagnostic procedures and interpret results.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
Provide education and counseling to patients regarding health management.
Document patient encounters accurately.
Assist in or perform minor surgical procedures.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Maintain compliance with ICD-10 coding standards and other regulatory requirements.
Ability to position and perform first reads on x-rays, a plus.
Skills to performpatient treatment procedures for most acute illnesses or injuries to include: pediatric and adult care; wound care, injections (IM, trigger), suturing, etc.
Hours:
Monday – Friday, 10am – 6 pm (will expand to include weekends in future) Requirements Masters degree in Physician Assistant studies or a related field.
Current certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Valid state licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant.
Current DEA License or DEA designee as required by NCQA.
Experience in Urgent Care setting is preferred.
Knowledge of medical standards and ICD-10 coding practices.
Strong critical thinking abilities and the capacity to make independent decisions regarding patient care.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Typical physical demands include the ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
Manual and finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination to perform physical examinations.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to a normal range.
Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.
May require exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
Commitment to providing compassionate patient care.
Responsibilities:
Conducts thorough medical histories, performs complete physical examinations (where indicated), initiates appropriate lab, radiology tests or other special tests required for evaluation of illness, and scrutinizes lab data to establish a record of thepatient’s current health status and to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan. Works in collaboration with the health care team.
Performs and interprets common laboratory, radiologic, cardiography and other routine diagnostic procedures used to identifypathophysiologic processes as credentialed and privileged by the Medical Director.
May prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by license through applicable state board.
Educates patients and answers questions regarding their disease, treatments, related drug and treatment side effects and hazards.
Refers patients to specialists as appropriate for consultation or for specialized health resources and treatment.
Ensures continuity of care by serving as a liaison betweenpatient and other members of the care team or with other specialty areas as necessary.
Participates in quality monitoring thru the review of records and treatment plans forpatient outcomes on a periodic basis to assure quality care.
Supports professional development of the health care team.
