EXEMPT Job Summary:

The Physician Assistant – Certified (PA-C) at Suncoast Community Health Centers, Inc. (SCHC) provides high-quality, patient-centered care to diverse populations, focusing on underserved communities. The Certified Physician Assistant works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver preventive, acute, and chronic care services across all age groups.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including medical histories, physical exams, and symptom assessments, to diagnose acute and chronic conditions. Develop and implement treatment plans, including prescribing medications and therapies within state guidelines and clinical protocols. Administer or order diagnostic tests, such as blood work, X-rays, and imaging, interpreting results to guide clinical decisions. Perform minor procedures, including suturing, wound care, injections, and immunizations. Provide patient education on health maintenance, disease prevention, lifestyle modifications, and self-care techniques. Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated, holistic care. Refer patients to specialists or additional healthcare services as needed, ensuring continuity of care. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in the electronic health record (EHR) system, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and clinic policies. Stay current on medical advancements, technologies, and best practices through continuing education and professional development. Demonstrate competencies in caring for patients of all ages, including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly. Attend and actively participate in team meetings, case reviews, and continuing medical education (CME) activities to maintain high standards of care. Perform additional tasks as needed to support the centers.

Ability to use office equipment, including computers, copy machines, fax machines, telephones, calculators, and more. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and related software.

Education and Experience:

Physician Assistant Degree is required. Physician Assistant diploma and transcripts is required. Valid Physician Assistant Florida State License is required. Valid Physician Assistant Certification is required. DEA Certification within 90 days is required. BLS is required.

Physical Requirements:

May required to remain on their feet for extended periods. May work in various settings, including but not limited to outpatient clinics and hospitals. Must be able to lift up to 150 pounds to assist fallen patients. May be exposed to adverse indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, blood borne pathogens, physical hazards (e.g., needle pricks, etc.) and chemical hazards. Must be able to travel to various center locations as required.
