Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants Role Scope:
The ideal candidate will provide high quality patient-centeredcare, advocacy and education for patients and their families. Mustbe self-motivated and flexible to meet the demands of thespecialty. The provider should exhibit a passion for structuralheart disease and be open to being part of a rapidly growing andevolving program where adaptability is paramount. Must have anunderstanding of procedures offered such as TAVR (transcatheteraortic valve replacement), TMVR (transcatheter mitral valvereplacement), Mitraclip, left atrial appendage closure, and patentforamen ovale/atrial septal defect closure. Must be able tocommunicate effectively with all members of the healthcare teamincluding interventional cardiologists and cardiac surgeons anddemonstrate excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Educate patient and family members ensuring they understand thecare being provided, testing being performed, medical conditionsincluding treatment regimens and expected outcomes. Clinicalmanagement in collaboration with the physicians in both theoutpatient and inpatient settings. Strong clinical background andthe ability to diagnose, treat and manage complex cardiovascularcare including acute and chronic disease, medication management andstructural heart therapies. Must have ability to identifydiagnostic information that should be considered emergent andcommunicate timely information to physician colleague.
Qualifications Licensure :
Unrestricted State of ConnecticutMedical License (or eligible)
Training :
FNP, ANP, ACNP, AGNP, PAExperience :
At least two years of post-graduate experience as aNurse Practitioner (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) Candidateswith cardiology, interventional cardiology, cardiac surgeryexperience preferred.
