Hartford Hospital is seeking aPhysician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join their SurgicalCritical Care team! The Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) are anessential part of the multidisciplinary team that plans anddelivers care for complex surgical and trauma patients in the ICU.The critical patient population includes complex trauma,transplant, vascular, general surgery, neurosurgery, interventionalradiology and other critical care patients as the service needsdictate.

Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistants RoleScope:
Under established guidelines and in collaboration and/orsupervision with the practice physician(s), Advanced Practitionersperform routine physical examinations, and formulate medical,educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients. Inconsultation with the physician(s) and care team members, AdvancedPractitioners develop plans for further evaluation of health needs,e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists.
Advanced Practitioners provide appropriate treatment for problemswithin the scope of the provider’s practice as designated byprotocols and identifies problems outside of their scope ofpractice and refers appropriately to physician.

Qualifications Requirements:
Licensure :
UnrestrictedState of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
Training :
Certified or board-eligible Physician Assistant or Acute Care NursePractitioner Minimum of 1-2 years of recent critical careexperience as an Advanced Practice Provider in an ICU setting.
Proven ability to independently manage ICU patients, includingproficiency in ventilator management, resuscitation, and performingcritical care procedures within the APP scope of practice.
Comfortable working independently in a night shift environment.
