Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Physician Assistant is responsible for providing medical care, management and documentation for clients in a behavioral health, addiction, detox and rehabilitation, treatment and recovery residential or Intensive Outpatient facility or program.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Completes medical history and physicals for new clients being admitted Assists and supports the Treatment Team and monitors all medical interactions with the clients. Diagnoses and make recommendations regarding management and treatment of the client’s care. Discusses treatment plan with Supervising MD. Interacts and consult with the clients regarding medical concerns. Manages clients that are detoxifying from chemical dependence Participate in clinical education opportunities. Completing all tasks as directed by the Medical Director. Conducts group sessions for Preventative Medicine, Effects of Substance Abuse, etc. Assists with Utilization Reviews. Conducts daily rounds and provides orders to nursing staff, including medication orders. Orders and interprets diagnostic tests and lab results and provides education to clients regarding results. Coordinates Care with Specialists when necessary. Must be available by phone for nursing, techs and other staff questions or new client admissions during assigned call schedule.
JOB QUALIFICAITONS
Current NCCPA Certification State Licensed as Physician Assistant. Graduate of an accredited Bachelor’s Degree Physician Assistant program. Two years’ previous work experience working as a Physician Assistant. Experience in specialization related to job, e.g. addiction, chemical dependency, psychiatric care, eating disorders, etc. is preferred. CPR/First Aid Certification is required for this position. If not CPR/First Aid certified at time of hire, certification must be obtained within the state mandated time frame after first day of employment.
