The successful Advanced Practitioner (APP)supports patient care from the point of admission to discharge onthe service and step-down teams. This cardiac surgical APP is thecornerstone of patient care, handles a wide variety of case typesin all stages of illness, comprehensive physical assessments,interpretation of diagnostic results, establishing complex plans ofcare, and managing cardiac surgical emergencies. Extensive trainingand supervision are provided to the APPs for skills such as chesttubes, feeding tubes, and removal of pacer wires.

Opportunity:
- As avital member of the Cardiac Surgery team, the APP will deliverexpert, compassionate care to patients in our 18-bed CardiacSurgery intensive care unit (ICU), step-down unit, and floorsettings.
Responsibilities include:
- Managed preoperative andpostoperative care for cardiac surgery patients.
- Perform bedsideprocedures including central venous and arterial line placement,intra-aortic balloon pump removal, etc.
- Provide care for patientsundergoing advanced procedures, including heart transplants, ECMO(Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation), mechanical circulatorysupport, and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, developing individualizedcare plans, and closely monitoring progress.
- Collaborate with themultidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of teamwork and concisecommunication to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Supportseamless transitions of care between the ICU, step-down, and floorsettings.
- Provide patient and family education, ensuring a clearunderstanding of the surgical process and recovery journey.
