Cardiovascular Surgery Position Summary Summary:

The Chief PA – (Cardiothoracic ICU/CT Surgery) provides support and accountability as an experienced PA in the clinical area of expertise, and displays leadership and mentorship to designated PA team, associated medical teams and staff. The Chief PA – (Cardiothoracic ICU/CT Surgery) maintains clinical responsibility for patient care with supervising physician, and in collaboration with associated medical teams and staffing. He/she performs a broad spectrum of care regarding critical thinking, diagnosis, ordering of medications and diagnostics, and performance of corrective, preventive and therapeutic measures in the inpatient, surgical, and/or outpatient setting. Assumes medical staff privileging under the scope of practice of a delegated physician determined by Mount Sinai Health System, and the department of hire. The Clinically Advanced PA will have clinical expertise in the specialty of hire of greater than 5 years and operates as a role model for clinical care in the area of hire. The Chief PA assumes a leadership role managing a PA team, and responsible for all the associated duties.

Qualifications Responsibilities:

Education Required

• Must complete in-house orientation program
• Graduation from Accredited Physician Assistant Program, Masters preferred
• Masters preferred. Experience And Skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Speaks, reads and writes English
• 5 years of more of experience in clinical specialty of hire and/or leadership role of a medical team/PA team
• Basic Microsoft Office Use
• Previous Epic software use preferred License/Certifications
• NCCPA Board Certification
• New York State Licensure
• DEA Licensure
• BLS and ACLS Certification
• Infection Control Certification Working Conditions Other information: Working Conditions
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worn
• Physical ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift, and demonstrate dexterity for short or extended periods of time
