Position Details:

Hartford Hospital isseeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join theirSurgical Critical Care team! The Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)are an essential part of the multidisciplinary team that plans anddelivers care for complex surgical and trauma patients in the ICU.The patient population includes complex trauma, transplant,vascular, general surgery, neurosurgery, interventional radiologyand other critical care patients as the service needs dictate.

Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistants Role Scope:

Underestablished guidelines and in collaboration and/or supervision withthe practice physician(s), Advanced Practitioners perform routinephysical examinations, and formulate medical, educational, andpsychosocial plans to treat patients. In consultation with thephysician(s) and care team members, Advanced Practitioners developplans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral toother health team members or specialists. Advanced Practitionersprovide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of theprovider’s practice as designated by protocols and identifiesproblems outside of their scope of practice and refersappropriately to physician.

QualificationsRequirements:
Licensure :

Unrestricted State of Connecticut MedicalLicense (or eligible)

Training :

Certified or board-eligiblePhysician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Minimum of 1-2years of recent critical care experience as an Advanced PracticeProvider in an ICU setting. Proven ability to independently manageICU patients, including proficiency in ventilator management,resuscitation, and performing critical care procedures within theAPP scope of practice.
