Advanced Practice Provider Rutland-VT-05701-United States We arelooking for a full-time, Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) inthe Foley Cancer Center. Our comprehensive community cancer centermanages patients in multiple settings: cancer clinic, inpatient,emergency room, and telehealth. Working collaboratively withphysician and nurse partners to provide patient and family-centeredcare. M-F 8:00am

  • 4:30pm, no weeknight call, one weekend per monthon call coverage.

Under the direction of the Medical Directorand/or physician, the Advanced Practice Provider (NursePractitioner or Physician Assistant) provides healthcare servicesto patients by following established standards, procedures andpractices in their area of specialty. Obtains detailed history andperforms physical or psychological examinations. Performs or ordersX-rays, electrocardiograms, laboratory tests and other diagnosticprocedures, and interprets results. Administers such therapeuticprocedures as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care.

Provides physicians with assistance during surgery or medicalprocedures. Instructs patients on prescribed therapeutic regimens,home care and health maintenance. Evaluates outcomes of directpatient care and consults with other specialists as required.

Maintains required records and writes progress notes on patientcharts as to status, treatments and procedures. Providespreventative health care services to long-term patients andarranges consultations and referrals. Minimum Education

  • MastersDegree in Nursing or Graduate of an American Medical Associationapproved Physician Assistant educational program. Minimum WorkExperience
  • 2 years of Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistantexperience in specialty area being sought (i.e., Pain Management,Orthopaedics, Emergency Medicine, Psychiatrics, Endocrinology orOncology). Required Licenses/Certifications
  • Licensed with theVermont Office of Professional Regulation with advancedcertification by a national certifying organization recognized bythe Vermont Nursing Board’s scope of practice. or
  • Licensed by theVermont Medical Board with certification by a national certifyingorganization recognized by the Vermont Medical Board for scope ofpractice.
  • Unit-specific certifications as required (ACLS, TNCC,PALS, ENPC) per specific department operational framework.

Completion of endorsed patient/visitor de-escalation and restraintprogram certification based on department specific guidelines.

  • Able to take medicalhistory, assess medical condition and interpret findings.
  • Able toprepare and maintain records, write reports and respond tocorrespondence.
  • Skilled in developing and maintaining qualityassurance and a continuous quality improvement program.
  • Able toestablish and maintain effective working relations with patients,staff, and public.
  • Strong verbal and written communicationskills.
  • Knowledge of human relations, group dynamics, and qualityimprovement techniques.
  • Able to work in spite of interruptions.
  • Able to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Microsoft Office desktopapplication and navigation skills.
