Job Description The STEP psychiatrist would have primary clinical and service responsibilities to the multidisciplinary STEP inpatient and the newly developing STEP hospital consult, continuity of care service. This psychiatrist would be responsible for collaborating with social workers and physicians on the STEP team to manage the psychiatric aspects of current and new STEP patient’s care at UAB hospital and outpatient settings. The psychiatrist would attend STEP team meetings and actively participate in building out the consult service in a collaborative manner that supports the team, patient needs and UAB system. This team member will support hospital and emergency room throughput by helping facilitate hospital discharges by providing rapid access for discharging patients who are managed by the STEP team.
