No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Duties include, but are not limited to: Working specifically with the Associe Chief Nurse, MHSL; Chiefs of Psychiry, Psychology, Social Work and other supervisors, managers and team leaders in the service line to achieve and maintain high standards of performance. The incumbent may delege authority to subordine supervisors and hold them responsible for the performance of their specific units. In this regard, the incumbent is administrively responsible for all subordine supervisors and managers and is the approving official of all goals, policies and procedures established by each. Working collegially with other Associe Chiefs of Staff and Chief of Staff Service Chiefs to accomplish the clinical goals and stregic plans of the organizion. Participing in organizional planning to include stregic, operional, programmic and other plans and policies to achieve the mission and vision of the Medical Center. Representing the MHSL on decision-making committees the medical center. Participing in the development of long and short-term goals for the Service Line and the organizion. Demonstring expertise in and the ability to apply a wide range of professional theories, assessment methods and techniques to a variety of pient populions. Providing professional advice and consultion in areas reled to professional and behavioral health. Engaging in workforce management through assessing qualificions and abilities of current and prospective employees, adhering to regulory timeframes and evaluing employee performance and administering approprie disciplinary actions as indiced. Assessing productivity standards across program areas and professional disciplines and addressing deficiencies. Having line and staff authority for resource allocions within the MHSL to ensure efficient operion, preparing annual budgets and providing oversight of fund control expenditures in accordance with regulory requirements. Participing in the resources allocion process of the Service Line to include provision of sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide pient care, as well as recommending acquisition of necessary equipment and supplies and adeque space to provide such services. Overseeing the establishment of program monitors and outcome measurements for the Service Line and using da-driven quality assurance processes in these monitors and measurements. Functioning as advisor to the Chief of Staff, Associe Director, Associe Director for Nursing and Pient Care Services, and Facility Director on issues reled to the provision of direct pient care by Service Line staff. Performing a full range of psychiric services to tre mental health disorders through a variety of modalities and providing adjunctive interventions for trement of medical disorders using the most approprie techniques in providing quality direct pient care, including timely completion of all required clinical charting and documention as approprie. Functioning as a collaboring provider for Advance Practice Nurses/Nurse Practitioners, Physicians Assistants, Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, as needed. Functioning as facility’s Psychiric Officer for specified weekends, holidays, evenings or nights, as needed. Participing on and occasionally chairing Medical Center committees, workgroups and systems redesign projects. Contributing to the development and implemention of policies and procedures th guide and support the provision of services to pients. Work Schedule:

Residency Training:
Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certificion. (

VA physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty stus.) Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the Accredition Council for Gradue Medical Educion (ACGME), b) OR[(2) Those approved by the American Osteophic Associion (AOA),OR(3) Other residencies (non-US residency training programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United Stes), which the local Medical Staff Executive Committee deems to have provided the applicant with approprie professional training and believes has exposed the physician to an approprie range of pient care experiences. accredited residency training programs and who would otherwise meet the basic requirements for appointment are eligible to be appointed as “Physician Resident Providers” (PRPs). PRPs must be fully licensed physicians (i.e., not a training license) and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis. PRPs are not considered independent practitioners and will not be privileged; rher, they are to have a “scope of practice” th allows them to perform certain restricted duties under supervision.
