Job Description The Department of Internal Medicine, Section of Cardiovascular Medicine, is seeking a highly qualified candidate to join our faculty as the Vice Chief of Research. The incoming Vice Chief will be responsible for overseeing and expanding the Section?s research programs, with a focus on strengthening integration between clinical and research efforts. The ideal candidate will lead a translational research laboratory and play a key role in mentoring graduate students and postdoctoral trainees. They will help drive the Section?s “omics” initiatives and lead the development of tissue banking across the Heart and Vascular Center. In addition, the Vice Chief will be expected to provide clinical care and actively contribute to the Section?s medical education and training programs. The Cardiovascular Medicine Section, within the Department of Internal Medicine, has more than 160 full-time faculty, providing a full spectrum of clinical care, education, and ground-breaking research. Our clinical faculty provide a full spectrum of care for cardiovascular conditions, with subspecialties including inherited cardiomyopathy, cardiovascular genetics, cardiovascular imaging (echocardiography, molecular imaging, cardiac MRI and cardiac CT), electrophysiology, heart failure, coronary interventional, cardiac critical care, peripheral vascular disease and preventive cardiology. Our Electrophysiology, Heart Failure, Vascular Medicine and Structural Heart Disease Programs are the largest in Connecticut. Our educational programs include 50 fellows, training in cardiovascular medicine, as well as subspecialty training in adult congenital heart disease, advanced heart failure and transplantation, cardiovascular imaging, electrophysiology, interventional cardiology (coronary interventions, peripheral vascular interventions, and structural heart disease), and research fellowships. In addition to providing comprehensive clinical care and education, our faculty are involved in five specialized research centers within Cardiovascular Medicine, including Yale Cardiology Research Group (YCRG), Yale Translational Research Imaging Center (YTRIC), Cardiovascular Clinical Trials Program, the Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE), and the Yale Cardiovascular Research Center (CVRC), with faculty from eight countries and four continents.
