Position Overview The Surgery Service at James A. Haley VA Medical Center invites applications for a full-time, board-certified/eligible Cardio thoracic Surgeon. This is a permanent, on-site role combining operative and non-operative patient care with academic responsibilities, including teaching medical students and residents. Duties & Responsibilities Provide a full spectrum of operative and non-operative cardio thoracic care, including but not limited to: Coronary revascularization, valve repair/replacement, aortic aneurysm/root repair, redo surgeries Minimally invasive cardiac surgery, TAVR, maze procedures Prescribe lab tests, diagnostics, therapies as per clinical guidelines Participate in teaching and mentoring trainees Provide on-call coverage (evenings, nights, weekends, holidays) Adhere to VHA and VA medical standards in all care delivery Requirements U.S. citizenship (or eligible non-citizens under specific VA policy) MD or DO from an accredited institution Completion of ACGME/AOA-approved cardiac surgery residency (or equivalent with 5 years US practice) Board certification or eligibility in Thoracic/Cardiovascular Surgery Unrestricted state medical license English proficiency, good health, and physical capability for surgical duties Why Join Us?
