No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting The Physician( Neurology ) Specialty Care service the Bruce W. Carter VA Medical Center is responsible for examining and treing pients who experience disorders, illnesses and injuries th affect the nerves, spinal cord and brain. Their duties include conducting physical examinions, collecting spinal fluid or other samples and running neurological tests to identify problems. Duties include but are not limited to The provision of neurologic evaluion and trement of Veterans with compassion on both an inpient and outpient basis along with the educion and counseling of Veterans and their families on medical conditions/trements. Participing in and/or managing all aspects of a general Neurology program, to include clinical, administrive, academic, and research components if warranted. Managing pient workload within available staffing, which may include support of physician assistants or nurse practitioners. Performing the usual administrive components of pient care management, such as: documention of progress notes and consultion findings in an electronic medical record, diction and electronic signure of OP reports and hospital discharge summaries, electronic entry and signure of all doctor’s orders for inpients and outpients, etc. Provides clinical consultion to West Palm Beach VA clinical staff both within and outside of the Medicine Service Line. Pient caseload may be inpient, outpient, or both. Neurologists examine pients suffering from neurological disorders, trement resistant headache disorders, such as seizure disorders, Parkinson’s disease or Alzheimer’s disease. The physician may work with primary care physicians on a consulting basis when a pient has symptoms th suggest a neurological issue. Examinions for neurological pients may include tests of a pient’s cranial nerve function, cognitive stus, motor skills and sensory system by asking the pient to perform activities. Occasional supervision of medical students, physician residents, or physician fellows.

Physical Requirements:

Must pass a pre-employment physical examinion as required by VA Handbook 5019. This examinion is administered by VA Occupional Health.
