SummaryThe Miami VA Healthcare System (Bruce W. Carter VA Medical Center) Specialty Care Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic Physician (Neurology).Ideal applicants are those who want to contribute to the achievement of quality care standards, as well as the growth and development of a VA academic hospital program.

DutiesThis is an open continuous announcement that will remain open until filled.

Eligible applicants will be referred each week for consideration until a selection is made.
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.
You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.
Program approval and award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.
Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Pay:
Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases.
Paid Time Off:
50-55 days per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays, and possibly 5 days paid for CME).

Position ResponsibilitiesExamine and treat patients with neurological disorders, including illnesses and injuries affecting nerves, spinal cord, and brain.
Conduct physical examinations, collect samples, and run neurological tests.
Provide neurologic evaluation and treatment, and educate Veterans and families on conditions and treatments.
Manage all aspects of a general Neurology program, including clinical, administrative, academic, and research components if applicable.
Manage patient workload within staffing limits, supporting physician assistants or nurse practitioners as needed.
Complete administrative tasks such as documentation, dictation, electronic signatures, and order entry.
Provide clinical consultation to West Palm Beach VA staff within and outside the Medicine Service Line.
Work may involve inpatient, outpatient, or both caseloads.
Examine patients with neurological disorders, including treatment-resistant headache disorders, seizures, Parkinson’s, or Alzheimer’s disease.
Collaborate with primary care physicians for neurological symptoms.
Perform tests of cranial nerve function, cognitive status, motor skills, and sensory systems.
Supervise medical students, residents, or fellows occasionally.
Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., with possible shift variations based on needs.#J-18808-Ljbffr
