No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Physician (Occupional Medicine/ Employee Health/ Compension & Pension) duties consist of but are not limited to the following: Coordines health care needs according to guidelines established by the Department of Veterans Affairs and sound medical practice. Primarily responsible for evaluions pertaining to Compension and Pension examinions requested by the Veterans Benefits Administrion (VBA). Perform in certain instances, ste department examinions, veteran’s insurance examinions and periodic or separion examinions of armed services military personnel. Is cognizant of the fact th he/she is engaging in forensic examinion th may involve besides pient history and examinion, review of extensive documents as needed th pertains to the pient’s disability claim. Using the computerized medical record system for progress notes, orders, and medical record review and completion of such records in a complete and timely manner. Utilizes and promotes approved standards of care, procedures, methods and techniques, safety precautions and protocols in their applicion to this populion in all settings. Performs examinions to include history and physical findings and expanded single organ/system compension and pension exams as indiced. Renders an opinion supported by facts to establish the presence or absence of disease or condition making pient eligible/ineligible for compension and/or pension. Follows guidance periodically issued by VBA and DMA and as relayed by the medical Director of C&P Documents the above in report form utilizing informion technology per standards acceptable to VBA and DMA. Reviews, tracks, and evalues quality improvement initiives reled to Occupional Health/Compension & Pension. Develops and/or reviews protocols, order sets, clinical reminders, and note temples reling to Occupional Health/Compension & Pension. Participes and tends medical center committees as assigned by the Chief of Primary Care and the Chief of Staff. Actively stays informed of the stus of Occupional Health/Compension & Pension programs in the VA and dissemines pertinent informion to clinical staff the CWBY Bay Pines VAMC. Assures self-development responsibilities and maintains current knowledge of trends in clinical care and the theory, evidence base and implemention of Occupional Health Management. Coordines and participes in clinical research programs when approprie. If involved in an outgoing research project, abides by all VA regulions governing research protocols/policies and/or procedures.

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of educion in medicine or osteophic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Residency Training:
Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certificion. (
NOTE:
VA physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty stus.) Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the Accredition Council for Gradue Medical Educion (ACGME), b) OR [(2) Those approved by the American Osteophic Associion (AOA),OR (3) Other residencies (non-US residency training programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United Stes), which the local Medical Staff Executive Committee deems to have provided the applicant with approprie professional training and believes has exposed the physician to an approprie range of pient care experiences. accredited residency training programs and who would otherwise meet the basic requirements for appointment are eligible to be appointed as “Physician Resident Providers” (PRPs). PRPs must be fully licensed physicians (i.e., not a training license) and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis. PRPs are not considered independent practitioners and will not be privileged; rher, they are to have a “scope of practice” th allows them to perform certain restricted duties under supervision. Physical Requirements:
Must pass a pre-employment physical examinion as required by VA Handbook 5019. This examinion is administered by VA Occupional Health. This position requires modere lifting up to 44 lbs., carrying objects up to 15 lbs., frequent reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, hands and legs, use of cranes and motor vehicles, walking & standing up to 8 hours, bending and climbing and able to hear whisper. The incumbent must be physically, emotionally and mentally stable in order to efficiently perform the essential functions of this position without hazard to themselves or others. Educion Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of educion in allophic medicine or osteophic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accredition was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed.
