Orlando HealthBayfront Hospital in St. Petersburg on Florida s gulf coast isrecruiting a Neurosurgeon with fellowship training in epilepsysurgery and functional neurosurgery. Orlando Health BayfrontHospital has been a Level IV epilepsy program for20-consecutive-years with a dedicated Neuroscience unit and NICUwith neuroscience trained nurses and AANN epilepsy certifiednurses. The Neurosurgeon would collaborate with an internationallyrecognized academically oriented Epileptologists with expertise infunctional neuroanatomic clinical localization of epilepticseizures. The program has performed complex epilepsy surgeries andinvasive monitoring including stereo-EEG (SEEG), intraoperativeawake brain mapping of seizures and intraoperative mapping oftumors in eloquent regions. The Neurosurgeon would also do SEEGimplanted of deep subcortical nuclei for drug resistant epilepsyand responsive neurostimulation. The program has a dedicatedvideo-EEG monitoring unit with 24/7 staffing and ABRET certifiedEEG technologists, 3T MRI with high resolution head coil with theILAE Harness MRI protocol, ictal subtraction SPECT co-registered toMRI, high resolution brain PET and MRI PET fusion and diffusiontensor imaging for tractography. The multi-disciplinary team alsoconsists of Speech Language Pathologists, EpilepsyNeuropsychologists and Neuroradiologist. In addition, the programhas source localization and access to Magnetic Source Imaging. Theprogram has a regional reputation for epilepsy excellence. The ideal candidate must be fellowship trained in functionalneurosurgery. The candidate would have experience performing deep brainstimulation, and be interested in growing a functional program thatincludes a robust volume of both epilepsy and movement disordercases. The candidate would develop the deep brain stimulation formovement disorders and pain and expand referral base for braintumors and intra-operative mapping. The candidate would be experienced in functional imagingneuro-navigation programs and laser interstitial ablation (LiTT)for epilepsy and tumors. American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS)Certification. ACGME Residency in Neurosurgery.
