HCA Healthcare East Florida is seeking a dynamic physician leaderinterested in medical education to serve as core faculty in ourfamily medicine residency program at HCA Florida St. LucieHospital. We are looking for a family medicine/surgical OB. Our East Florida Graduate Medical Education Division currentlyencompasses 44 high-quality residency and fellowship programsacross 9 teaching hospitals and continues to grow its UME and GMEfootprint. Our vision and mission are to become a driver of qualityand positive change in medical education, to provide our learnerswith the highest quality training experience and maintain excellentoutcomes, to engage our learners and faculty in research andscholarship systematically, and to retain our graduates as futurepracticing physicians and teachers within HCA. Our Core Faculty constitute the foundation of our Graduate MedicalEducation Programs as they teach our residents and fellows, providehigh-quality care to our communities, and ensure that our learnersgraduate as practice-ready, high-quality physicians. As anessential part of our program, our Core faculty have theresponsibilities to: Be role models for future generations of physicians bydemonstrating compassion, a commitment to excellence in teachingand patient care, evidence-based medicine, professionalism, and theadvancement of the field of medicine by engaging in scholarship andby demonstrating a dedication to lifelong learning. Provide residents with level and skill-appropriate supervisionand promote patients cost-effective, as well as progressiveresident responsibility and independence. Create an effective learning environment, with opencommunication, free of fear of incrimination or retribution, andattend to resident well-being. Demonstrate a strong interest in resident education; regularlyparticipate in organized clinical discussions, didactics, rounds,journal clubs, conferences, and other educational activities asassigned by the Program Director On an annual basis, pursue the development of their teaching,mentoring, and administrative skills related to education,well-being, practice-based learning and improvement, and otherareas applicable to GME. By joining HCA Healthcare, the CoreFaculty will become part of the largest Graduate Medical Educationprovider in the US, and will have the opportunity to help shape thedirection and goals of medical education at the program anddivision level. This role also allows the Core Faculty to practice in his/herdesired specialty at the primary and/or closely affiliated sites,under employment by HCA or one of its area specialty partners. The Core Faculty will also have the opportunity to join theacademic faculty of one of our partner medical schools, the NovaSoutheastern University Kiran C. Patel College of AllopathicMedicine, and engage in medical student education, collaborativeresearch, and scholarship. The academic rank will depend on thecandidate s experience.

Requirements:

It will be required that the Core Faculty iscertified by the American Board of Medical Specialties in FamilyMedicine and have an Obstetrics fellowship or C-section privileges,will obtain a License to practice medicine in Florida, and becredentialed at the facilities of his/her clinical engagement. Theideal candidate has some clinical experience in anacademic/teaching environment, and has demonstrated involvementand/or a strong interest in medical education, as well as someinvolvement in research and scholarship over the past couple ofyears. Candidates that have recently graduated will beconsidered.

Responsibilities:

The Core Faculty will be responsible forday-to-day involvement in the education of the residents and/orfellows, as well as the education of medical students, and devote asignificant portion of their overall effort to the education ofresidents and fellows. As assigned by the Program Director, theCore faculty may be asked to take on the administration orimplementation of key components of the program and will supportprogram leadership in the development, implementation, assessment,and improvement of parts of the curriculum, resident assessment,and mentorship, resident engagement in scholarship and otherimportant tasks.
