Role:

Job Summary Under the Supervision of a Credentialed Physician, assists in interventional pain medicine procedures while maintaining a sterile field. Assists Physicians by providing diagnostic aid by conducting organ or body scans on patients. Administers and records isotope dosage in accordance with established departmental protocol. Observes patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity. Must possess thorough understanding of sterile technique. Performs various procedures that require independent judgment and a high level of skill proficiency. Assumes responsibility for designated procedural areas. Assists with care of mobility impaired patients. The scope of care includes age group adolescent thru geriatric. Minimum Job Qualifications Licensure or other certifications: Registered Radiologic Technologist (RTR) or (ARRT) required. Current BLS certification required.

Educational Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED. Graduate of an accredited ARRT Program required.

Job Specific and Unique Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Good interpersonal skills Good assessment skills Ability to operate technical equipment Ability to work independently and effectively with others Essential Tasks and Responsibilities Ensures that correct patient data is entered into x-ray computer and that correct technical factors for each patient are selected to achieve optimal image quality. Operates all interventional equipment and supplies according to equipment specifications (i.e. C-Arm, radiofrequency machine, crash carts, ultrasound machine, patient monitoring equipment). Preps the procedure room and equipment for procedure to be performed, to include cleaning, removal of trash and linen, and restocking of room between cases. Maintains sterile technique throughout invasive procedures, at the end of the procedure, ensures that all equipment is placed in the appropriate containers for sterilization. Prepares for procedure in terms of sterile supplies required. Ensures patients are prepped and draped appropriately, maintaining privacy and confidentiality. Assists the Physician during procedure as evidenced by knowledge of selected equipment, selection and care of epidural needles, and other necessary supplies. Sets up, operates, and troubleshoots fluoroscopy and digital radiological equipment, including post processing of images. Ensures that required pre

Prepares and operates specialized equipment found in the Interventional Pain Medicine environment. Performs and documents daily operational functions on procedure room equipment on designated documentation form. Produce quality radiographs consistently within department standards. Follow good radiation safety practices, i.e. coning, shielding, film badge monitoring, according to state and federal guidelines. Maintains a team environment and culture. Assumes responsibility for own personal and professional development. Assists in orientation of new staff and/or serves as a mentor. Serves as facilitator between staff and Manager providing feedback as necessary. Completes unit based skills annually. Attends mandatory educational classes pertaining to new equipment, procedures, supplies, and new technology. Responsible for continuing education for required certifications. Assists and participates in the department’s process improvement initiatives.
