The Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, Shreveport, LA, has an immediate opening for a full-time, board certified/board eligible Chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service. Shreveport is situated on the Red River in northwest Louisiana. Commonly known as the ‘Ark-La-Tex’, the point where Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas meet. Highlights of this position include:
Competitive Starting Salary $350,000 – $400,000
Work Schedule:
Mon-Fri, 8am-4:30pm.
Responsible for strategic planning, supervision of staff, effectively coordinating activities and policies related to physical rehabilitation and treatment of patients.
Serves as advisor to the Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Staff on matters relating to pain management, cognitive rehabilitation, and overall functional improvement of patients.
Performs a wide range of medical duties, including rehabilitation medicine; examines and assesses patients, develops and manages a comprehensive and rehabilitation program.
Serves as a subject matter expert for consultation on medical management of traumatic brain injury (TBI), spinal cord, and other neurologic and musculoskeletal associated types of care.
Reviews and analyzes rehabilitation work methods and operational procedures, and recommends changes based on findings.
Effectively communicates with service employees, patients and their families, employees from other services, stake holders, the triad, and VISN and VACO staff when required.
Must be a U.S. Citizen. Non-Citizen candidates will be considered if a U.S. Citizen is not foundFull and unrestricted license from any U.S. StatePreferred Board Certified with Family Practice
