The Alexandria VA Medical Center is seeking a full-time, BC/BE, Family Medicine/Internal Medicine physician to serve as a member of its Primary Care Team in Jennings, LA. Founded as a railroad depot midway between the larger cities of Lafayette and Lake Charles, Jennings today offers plenty of reasons to stop and explore. Cajun heritage thrives in local restaurants, music venues and festivals. Birding, hunting and water sports abound in the countryside, while downtown offers a host of unique attractions. Candidates must be highly motivated, team-oriented, and committed to the care and exceptional health of our veterans. Highlights of this position include:
Competitive Starting Salary $240,000-$250,000
Work Schedule:
Mon-Fri, 8am-4:30pm
This position is telehealth eligible (virtual visits- video, remote care by telephone)
Provide care to approximately 12-20 outpatients daily in an outpatient setting
Responsible for all facets of acute patient care
Will assist in completing quality management reviews
Responsible for the successful achievement of applicable Performance Measure and Monitors his/her areas of responsibility
Candidate will take an active part in the peer review process and complete Physician’s reviews on time
Additional Requirements:
Board Certified/Board Eligible in FM/IM
Experience in Primary Care
Must be a U.S. Citizen. Non-Citizen candidates will be considered if a U.S. Citizen is not found
Full and unrestricted license from any U.S. State
We offer:
Annual performance bonus up to an additional $15K per year
Federal health/dental/vision/term life/long-term care insurance (many can be carried over into retirement)
Malpractice:
Liability protection with tail coverage provided
26 days paid vacation; 13 days paid sick time per year w/unlimited carry over; 11 paid holidays
Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and separate 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Possible 5 days for CME’s and up to $1,000 per year (must be full-time with board certification)
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), if approved
Recruitment/Relocation may be authorized for highly qualified candidates
No Physician Employment contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
