Job Description

Family Medicine PGY-1 Resident 3.2 3.2 out of 5 stars 4200 HOUMA BLVD, Metairie, LA 70006 Your job is more than a job. The F.M. Resident Post Grad Yr-1 supports the mission of the hospital and family medicine department by preventing, identifying, and resolving drug related issues to ensure patient safety, improve patient satisfaction, and minimize cost. Collaborates with multidisciplinary health care teams to achieve optimal outcomes. Provides care commensurate with their level of advancement and competence, under the general supervision of attending teaching staff.

GENERAL DUTIES

Undergoes clinical rotations in the hospitals and polyclinics, call-back sessions, and teaching sessions that combine foundation teaching, continuity clinics, skills workshops/attachments, and community medicine, etc. Completes a research project by demonstrating the ability to evaluate and investigate practice, review data, and assimilate scientific evidence to improve patient care and/or the medication use system. Prepares, dispenses, and manages medications to support safe and effective drug therapy for patients. Serves as preceptors throughout the year to family medicine students completing their clinical clerkships and as educators for in-services to the staff. Contributes to many clinical activities including collection of data for Drug Utilization Evaluations (DUEs) and medication education to inpatients/out-patients. Performs procedures as required by individual programs, at first under strict supervision until competence is documented, then independently.
