Description:

Instructor position in Minimally Invasive Surgery – Fellowship position in New Orleans, LA The Division of Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery in the Department of Surgery at Tulane University School of Medicine is seeking to hire an instructor to join a busy Bariatric, Robotic and Endoscopic surgery practice in New Orleans. The position will be for one year and the training experience will consist primarily in general, upper GI and bariatric surgery procedures such as paraesophageal hernia repair and fundoplication, revisional foregut surgery, Heller myotomy, primary bariatric (gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, duodenal switch) and revisional procedures, inguinal hernia, complex ventral hernia, solid organ surgery, and diagnostic and therapeutic flexible endoscopy. The fellow will also be taught basic and advanced robotic surgical skills in a stepwise fashion in order to master its application in a variety of cases. Fellows are also expected to graduate as a certified robotic surgeon.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD or DO degree and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted Louisiana medical license. Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in general surgery. The fellow will be considered as faculty-fellow and need to be eligible for credentialing as such.
