The BIDMC Special Care Nursery (SCN) Hospitalist Service, NICU Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Team Night Coverage, and The Cochran Newborn Service (CNS).
BIDMC SCN
Hospitalist Service The SCN Hospitalist Service or “C Team” is our intermediate care service covered by pediatric hospitalists 7 days per week. We are seeking physicians to provide C Team coverage on the weekends with the possibility of weekday coverage. In this role, the physician will round on assigned patients on the C Team with the attending neonatologist; provide direct clinical care, including daily physical examinations that are recorded in the medical record; arrange consultation when needed; communicate with families; provide delivery room coverage; assist with admissions and procedures; formally sign-out (verbal and email) to the night/weekend NPs/attendings; and dictate discharge summaries on C Team patients. The shift starts at 0730 and ends at 1530. Compensation for a day of coverage on the Hospitalist Service is $800.
NICU APP
Team Night Coverage The
NICU APP
Night Model provides clinical care to the NICU, SCN, Newborn Nursery (PPNU), and Labor & Delivery Unit. We are currently seeking physicians to provide coverage at night, to supplement the APP group when needed. In this role, the physician will work alongside the attending neonatologist and

to provide clinical care to NICU and SCN patients, while also attending high-risk deliveries and managing admissions. The

Team also acts in a consultative role to address active issues in the SCN and PPNU.
Responsibilities include:
night rounding for acute patients; provision of direct clinical care; performing procedures and completion of daily physical exam; ensuring optimal family communication. The shift starts at 1930 and ends at 0730. You will not be expected to sign out the NICU patients at the end of the shift. Compensation for a night of coverage on the APP services is $1,200 CNS The CNS service at BIDMC is our well newborn rounding service, and provides coverage for approximately 80% of the well newborns born at BIDMC annually. We are currently seeking physicians to provide CNS coverage on the weekends with the future possibility of weekday coverage. In this role, the physician is expected to round on assigned patients, provide direct clinical care, and communicate with and educate families. During the week, Harvard Medical School students rotate through the service, and the physician will be expected to teach and supervise the students. The CNS is staffed daily with two physicians who round on patients on the Postpartum Neonatal Unit (PPNU). A typical day starts at about 0800 and ends in the early afternoon once patient care is complete. Compensation for a day of coverage on the CNS is $800. To ensure familiarity with the services and staff, we ask for a commitment of at least 8 days/nights in the fiscal year (October – September) for any service. You will work with the BIDMC Department of Neonatology administrative team and program leads to schedule your time each quarter.
