V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Candidates must have at least two years of recent ED experience (within the last five years) and hold an active, unrestricted license in any U.S. state or territory. Physicians board-certified in Internal or Family Medicine must demonstrate substantial experience working in emergency settings. Schedule and Shift

  • OnsitePrimary Job Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to veterans by ACEP standards
  • Perform evaluation, treatment, stabilization, triage, and disposition of various emergency cases across all body systems and patient populations
  • Manage minor to complex emergency procedures including but not limited to
  • Suturing, abscess drainage, splinting, intubation, central line placement, chest tube insertion, etc
  • Stabilize and transfer trauma patients as needed
  • Evaluate and approve inpatient admissions from mid-level providers
  • Provide consultation to referring providers and ensure smooth hand-offs
  • Coordinate discharge planning and education
  • Refer homeless or frequently returning patients to social work
  • Ensure proper documentation and communication of test results in line with VHA guidelines
  • Adhere to the facility’s medical by laws, standards, and VA policies Qualification
  • Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State, Territory, or the District of Columbia
  • No history of revoked, restricted, or surrendered licenses
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine
  • Physicians certified in Internal or Family Medicine must have at least 2 years of substantial recent ED experience (within the past 5 years
  • Active DEA license
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications issued by the American Heart Association
  • Fluent in English (spoken, written, and comprehension
  • Letter of commitment and availability signed by each physician
  • Address of primary residence to verify proximity to facility or willingness to relocate
  • Three supervisory references with contact information (including email addresses
