Duties include but are not limited to the following: The staff Urologist also functions as a coordinor between the other tending physicians and other team members and will establish and maintain relions and, when indiced, service agreements with other key services to include (but not limited to): Surgery and Medicine Services, Medical Oncology, Radiion Therapy, Primary Care, Prosthetics, Nursing, Social Work, and Radiology. The staff Urologist is also responsible for Section coordinion between the ACOS/E and roting Duke Residents and relevant staff, to fulfill the needs of the Urology Section and their pients within the guidelines for educion established by the ACGME. The Urology Surgery Section manages a broad range of disease stes in pients with both non-operive as well as surgical trement options. These pients often have severe concomitant medical problems, mental health and chronic pain issues and are multi-symptomic. This intense interaction requires th the staff Urologist make and implement sound and reasonable decisions and demonstre above average personal and team performance/cooperion. Relentless tention to detail and unmitiged integrity is required. The staff Urologist develops and coordines pient care programs based upon the pient complaint(s) and phology and performs, as a minimum, the following duties Demonstre the ability to diagnose, manage and tre urological surgery pients Inpient and Outpient Clinic consultion and follow-up, admission History and Physicals, preoperive evaluions, surgery posting notes, orders, operive notes and reports, progress notes, and discharge planning and summaries. Assume primary responsibility for admissions and pients under their care. These activities may be supervised and coordined with residents/midlevels/students if they are present on service. Develop and provide medical educion/counseling of pients and their families with a focus on delivery of evidence based, outcomes focused, veteran centric care. This includes addressing goals of care and code stus, as indiced. Promote contemporary pient care programs for urological surgery pients and periodically review and upde them based upon current and/or new, broadly accepted concepts. Adhere to Medical Staff bylaws and I CARE values. Maintain and practice as defined by current privileges.

United Stes Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of educion in medicine or osteophic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a Ste, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United Stes, or in the District of Columbia.
Residency Training:
Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certificion. (
NOTE:
VA physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty stus.) Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the Accredition Council for Gradue Medical Educion (ACGME), b) OR [(2) Those approved by the American Osteophic Associion (AOA),OR (3) Other residencies (non-US residency training programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United Stes), which the local Medical Staff Executive Committee deems to have provided the applicant with approprie professional training and believes has exposed the physician to an approprie range of pient care experiences. Residents currently enrolled in
ACGME/AOA
accredited residency training programs and who would otherwise meet the basic requirements for appointment are eligible to be appointed as “Physician Resident Providers” (PRPs). PRPs must be fully licensed physicians (i.e., not a training license) and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis. PRPs are not considered independent practitioners and will not be privileged; rher, they are to have a “scope of practice” th allows them to perform certain restricted duties under supervision. Additionally, surgery residents in gap years may also be appointed as PRPs. Proficiency in spoken and written English.
