Company Overview Contentnea Health is a Community Health Center providing comprehensive medical, dental and behavioral health services for members of our communities in Greene, Pitt and Pamlico counties in eastern North Carolina.    Job Summary Assists physicians and advanced practice practitioners with patient care and maintains clinical areas. Responsibilities and Duties Assists medical practitioners with patient care.
Performs pre-visit planning.
Obtains vital signs. Performs standing orders.
Reviews medical histories with patients.
Prepares patients for examinations and assists practitioner with examinations and procedures.
Collects and processes lab specimens.
Administers medications and immunizations. Performs vision and hearing tests, ear irrigation, electrocardiograms, spirometry, wound care, splinting, nebulized therapies, and other clinical orders.
Ensures collected data is communicated to practitioner and properly documented in electronic health record (EHR) and other designated databases, such as NCIR. Relays instructions and education to patients.
Transmits medication orders/refills to pharmacies.
Maintains clinical areas. Enacts OSHA medical office standards for sanitation of intake areas, exam rooms, and laboratory, before, during, and after each patient.
Properly disposes of medical waste, including sharps.
Participates in inventory, stocking, and organization of medical supplies, medications, and/or immunizations, in exam rooms, laboratory, and storage areas, including crash carts, refrigerators, and freezers.
Participates in regular maintenance of medical equipment such as laboratory machines, electrocardiogram machines, nebulizers, glucometers, and defibrillators. Receives patients, guests, visitors and vendors upon arrival to the clinic and by phone.
Greets individuals, identifies the individual’s needs, and routes accordingly.
Maintains neatness of waiting area and front desk.
Performs check-in process for patient visits.
Checks patients in on arrival.
Provides patient registration form to patients and attaches to patient account.
Verifies demographic information and updates information in patient account.
Verifies billing information, including current insurance information, and sliding fee eligibility and status.
Collaborates with Financial Counselor to review sliding fee applications. Collects and posts payments.
Supports patients in completion of forms as needed.
Performs check-out process after patient visit.
Checks patient out at end of patient visit.
Schedules return appointments.
Processes daily cash collections.
Reviews day sheet and reconciles with cash collections.
Prepares daily deposit slip.
Qualifications and Skills Possesses work-related skills at a higher level than completion of high school, including formal written and verbal communication skills, computational and computer skills, mathematical, technical or health care related knowledge frequently acquired through completion of a trade school, para-professional, or certificate type program. Possesses specific knowledge of medical assisting processes and practices, typically acquired during completion of a certificate in medical assisting or nursing assisting with a duration of up to a year. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
