Job TitleRegional Chief Health Officer Job DescriptionReporting to the Chief Health Officer, the RegionalChief Health Officer (RCHO) will be responsible for the clinicalstrategy and care delivery starting in the North Carolina market,spanning three or more distinct geographies within the state, eachwith multiple clinical hubs and anticipated management of tens ofthousands of members. This individual will collaborate closely withthe North Carolina Market General Manager who will own theoperational, financial, and growing success of the market. TheRegional Chief Health Officer will partner with clinical leaders todefine success metrics, identify key opportunities for clinicalvalue, and tailor care model components to the North Carolinamarket. This individual will hire the North Carolina clinical team(including physicians, advanced practice clinicians, RN caremanagers, behavioral specialists and more), lead local market levelclinical improvement initiatives with the aim of improving qualityand health outcomes, and ultimately will be held responsible forthose clinical results. Over time, the RCHO—s encompassed servicearea may extend across the southeastern United States.– This individual is an important leader within the organization’sgrowing team and will collaborate cross-functionally with seniorleaders across the organization. In particular, s/he will be themarket clinical leader providing oversight and leadership to thecare delivery staff while contributing to the growth andoperational trajectory of the business. S/he will represent theorganization externally with key partners, including health planpartners and other collaborative organizations in the market,including health systems, provider groups and community-basedorganizations (CBOs). This individual will maintain an activeclinical practice, ensuring a deep understanding of theorganization’s care model and technology platform, Commons.
Importantly, s/he must be driven by a passion for value-based,integrated health care and care deeply about bringing best-in-classcare models to serve families and communities with complex healthand social needs. Required Skills and Experience Doctor of Medicine required; board certification or eligibilityrequired; active medical license in good standing in the State ofNorth Carolina required within 120 days of hire. You are an experienced clinician that has led care teams,scaled clinical operations and held oversight responsibilities innew markets. Have provided clinical services to individuals withco-occurring chronic medical and behavioral health conditions, anddemonstrate an interest in serving complex, vulnerable, anddisabled populations. You have familiarity with healthcare network strategy,including network development, value-based care contracting,provider relations, and local operations (local NC expertisepreferred). You have exposure to innovative models of care delivery, astrong understanding of the national payer and risk-bearingprovider landscape, healthcare reform, and population healthtrends. You are data-driven, with an appreciation for how technologycan support clinical efficiency and help drive the ongoingevolution toward new and better care. You are extremely mission-oriented and highly collaborativeexecutive; demonstrates a passion for value-based, integratedhealth care and care deeply about bringing best-in-class caremodels to serve patients with complex health and socialneeds. Unrestricted North Carolina Driver—s License and vehicle fordaily usage Multilingual preferred– What You Need to Know Be responsible for the overall clinical performance in theNorth Carolina market. Partner with clinical leaders to define care model components,including customization/tailoring specifically for the NorthCarolina market, success metrics, and key opportunities forclinical value. Establish a trust-based partnership with the General Manager,working within a dyad leadership structure to achieve optimalclinical and operational outcomes in North Carolina. Partner with Director of Quality to identify key qualityimprovement opportunities and implement highly effective workflowsand processes to achieve better clinical outcomes. Represent the organization externally with plan partners,aligned provider practices, and CBOs to reinforce the care model;lead in the development of future high-valuerelationships. Hire, clinically train, and manage all in-market clinicianleaders; design and lead the annual goal-setting process for allclinicians in the North Carolina market.
