Job Description
Position OverviewThe primary purpose of this position is to support the mental health and well-being of students by providing acute and primary psychiatric care to the student population.
This includes intake assessments, evaluations, and medication management.
Clinical ServicesPerform clinical evaluations, including medical history and assessments, to diagnose the nature and extent of mental disorders.
Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitor their effectiveness, and adjust treatment as needed.
Provide crisis intervention and emergency psychiatric care for students in distress.
Offer short-term follow-up care and refer students to community providers for long-term treatment when necessary.
Design individualized treatment plans, counsel patients, and monitor medication use in a therapeutic setting.
Facilitate the processing of voluntary and involuntary hospitalizations.
Orders and interprets ancillary testing for clinical management patients.
Collaboration & ConsultationWork closely with university counseling and psychological services, medical providers, and student support teams to coordinate care.
Serve as a consultant for university staff and faculty on mental health issues affecting students and provide guidance on accommodations and interventions.
Participate in case consultations and team meetings to ensure comprehensive student care.
Education & OutreachServe as a resource for education and outreach programming.
Consult or collaborate with campus partners on trainings and workshops as needed.
Compliance & DocumentationMaintain accurate and confidential medical records in accordance with university policies and legal requirements.
Adhere to federal, state, and institutional guidelines regarding patient care, privacy, and ethical standards.
