JobSummaryThe Prisma Health Physician is responsible for the provisionof quality medical services to patients of Prisma Health-UniversityMedical GroupAccountabilities Engages in the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of disease,defects or injuries and recommend or prescribe treatments for therelief or cure of physical, mental or functional ailments ordefects. Renders medical treatment to his or her patients consistentwith generally accepted professional standards of care withoutregard to their ability to pay for such treatment and withoutregard to race, creed, color, sex, religion, national origin, orage. Completes accurate, legible, and timely records with respect toall medical examinations and procedures; to accurately use CurrentProcedural Terminology and International Classification of Diseasescodes. Provides after hours call coverage equally with otherphysicians of the Practice unless there is an agreementotherwise. Complies with standards of accepted medical practice, the rulesand regulations of managed care organizations and other payors,including but not limited to Medicare and Medicaid (except to theextent those rules conflict with Physician’s professional medicaljudgment), and the standards of the Joint Commission onAccreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Enhances clinical skills by maintaining sufficient continuingmedical education to meet the requirements of the Physician’scertification and/or state licensing board. Agrees to actively participate in non-revenue generatingactivities which serve to advance the Vision and Mission of PrismaHealth. As an Academic Health Center, these activities may rangefrom serving on committees, community outreach, helping to meet theteaching, the research goals and/or other activities as determinedby the appropriate Department Chair. These important expectationsare shared by all providers within Prisma Health-University MedicalGroup and are key elements of a high performing, integrated,physician led organization. Participates in responding to requests for proposals formanaged care contracts. Participates in the establishment of quality assuranceprograms, utilization management programs, patient educationservices, and patient satisfaction programs. Assists Employer in obtaining and maintaining any and alllicenses, permits and other authorizations, plus achieving anyapplicable accreditation standards that relate to the business ofPhysician’s Practice or Department.
