Job Description

Overview Advanced Practice Provider, Cardiac Critical Care The Heart and Vascular Center at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, is seeking to hire an experienced advanced practice provider (APRN or PA) to join the Cardiac Critical Care Unit. The advanced practice provider (APP) will be dedicated to inpatient care in the Cardiac Critical Care Unit that is comprised of patients with heart failure, post cardiac arrest, post-interventional advanced structural, mechanical circulatory support devices and ECMO. The APP will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, advanced practitioners, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, physical therapists, and other specialists in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. The APP should be willing to work in a collaborative environment and will have a strong interest in the care of critically ill patients. This role is dynamic and allows for a high degree of autonomy in managing patients. In conjunction with the attending physician, the role of the APP is to supervise a team consisting of a medical resident and, potentially, medical students, APP residents, and APP students. The APP will be trained to independently perform several invasive procedures, including intubation, central line placement, transvenous pacing wire placement, and arterial line placement, as well as supervise other staff performing these procedures. The APP will work collaboratively with senior medical and surgical residents and critical care fellows in the delivery of care to this diverse patient population. Patients in the cardiac critical care unit are co-managed by a cardiologist and intensivist, and excellent communication skills are a must. Additional opportunities include didactic education content, quality improvement projects, journal club, and research projects. Experience in Critical Care is required; completion of a Critical Care residency is preferred. This is a full-time, salaried, benefited position. Schedule is day and night with rotating weekend coverage. A faculty appointment at the level of Instructor through Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth will be requested. Dartmouth Health offers a comprehensive benefits package to include health, dental, vision, malpractice insurance, retirement plan, and CME allowance.
