Position Overview:
ThePalliative Care Physician will play a crucial role in deliveringhigh-quality, patient-focused care to individuals with serious,life-limiting illnesses. The ideal candidate will possess a strongcommitment to providing compassionate, comprehensive palliativecare, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team toaddress the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patientsand their families.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide expert palliative care consultations and follow-up careto patients in various settings, including inpatient andoutpatient. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, includingphysicians, nurses, social workers, and chaplains, to develop andimplement individualized care plans. Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medicalhistory, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations. Manage complex symptoms, including pain, nausea, andrespiratory distress, to improve the quality of life forpatients. Facilitate discussions with patients and families regardingprognosis, goals of care, and advance care planning. Educate and support healthcare providers, patients, andfamilies about palliative care principles and practices. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research, andeducational activities to advance the field of palliativecare.
Qualifications:
Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medicalschool. Board certification or eligibility in Hospice and PalliativeMedicine. Valid state medical license. Demonstrated expertise in palliative care, pain management, andsymptom control. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the abilityto build rapport with patients, families, and healthcare teammembers. Commitment to continuous professional development and stayingcurrent with advancements in palliative care.
