Work Schedule:

Full-time, Monday – Friday, anticiped work day 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. subject to discussion with Supervisor. Summary of Duties, but not limited to: Provides direct care to pients in the Primary Care department. Provides clinical guidance to PA’s and others as requested. Participes in interdisciplinary team activities to achieve optimum quality of pient care th is maintained or improved. Participes in the progressive improvement of the service delivery which may include programmic participion in initiives within the facility. Evalues the pient to assess changes in the physical and mental stus. A progress note is written in the pient’s chart. Responsible for coordining with providers within their own and outside of their own Service Line, the other divisions within the Manchester VA structure and the CBOC Clinics as determined by the plan of care for the veteran. Open, clear, and collaborive engagements are a key duty. Incumbent is ultimely responsible to ensure barriers for Veterans and staff are minimized to promote a positive work environment. Fosters positive working relionships with staff, peers, and Veterans. Performs pient evaluions, orders, and interprets diagnostic blood and fluid tests and imaging studies as indiced. Responsible for medical care as approprie. Although on-call hours are seldom, staff physician shall be available for emergency interventions. Staff within Primary Care are appropriely credentialed and privileged. They participe in various hospital committees, departmental and hospital in-service programs, and educion programs of the department and the hospital. They are also involved in continuous quality improvement through the peer review and

process. Actively participes in compliance readiness activities as requested by Chief of Primary Care, Quality Management and the Chief of Staff. Performs other duties as assigned, Responsibilities will include participion in quality assurance programs and chart reviews and completing medical records in accordance with Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulions and any other duties as assigned. The employee exercises corpore citizenship by serving as a leader and/or active member on Medical Center committees as requested and tending Medical Service Staff meetings and meetings of the Medical/Dental staff. Teaches effectively and creively and provides guidance to others involved in the delivery of Primary Care – reled educional programs. Meets the needs of customers while supporting the Medical Center and Service missions. Consistently communices and tres customers (pients, ors, volunteers, and all Medical Center staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner. Provides the customer with consistent informion according to established policies and procedures. Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriely. Basic Requirements:
United Stes Citizenship:

Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of educion in medicine or osteophic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a Ste, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United Stes, or in the District of Columbia.

Residency Training:

Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certificion. (

NOTE:

VA physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty stus.) Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the Accredition Council for Gradue Medical Educion (ACGME), b) OR [(2) Those approved by the American Osteophic Associion (AOA),OR (3) Other residencies (non-US residency training programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United Stes), which the local Medical Staff Executive Committee deems to have provided the applicant with approprie professional training and believes has exposed the physician to an approprie range of pient care experiences. accredited residency training programs and who would otherwise meet the basic requirements for appointment are eligible to be appointed as “Physician Resident Providers” (PRPs). PRPs must be fully licensed physicians (i.e., not a training license) and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis. PRPs are not considered independent practitioners and will not be privileged; rher, they are to have a “scope of practice” th allows them to perform certain restricted duties under supervision. Additionally, surgery residents in gap years may also be appointed as PRPs. Proficiency in spoken and written English.

For foreign medical gradues not covered in (1) or (2) above, facility officials must verify with the Educional Commission for Foreign Medical Gradues (ECFMG) th the applicant has met requirements for certificion, and must obtain a copy of the ECFMG certifice, if claimed by the applicant. [If the applicant does not claim an ECFMG certifice, facility officials must still confirm th the medical school meets (or met) ECFMG eligibility requirements for the year the candide gradued.]
