Role Summary:
RPCI Oncology PC is seeking a General Thoracic Surgeon to serve its Affiliate Partner, Samaritan Medical Center. The successful candidate will be board eligible or certified in thoracic surgery. The candidate will hold a faculty position with the Department of Thoracic Surgery at the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, including access to its academic resources. Full participation in the academic activities of the Department including attendance at tumor boards, educational lectures, case discussions and quality initiatives is expected. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with a dedication to quality and best patient experience. Proficiency in all aspects of general thoracic surgery except lung transplant is expected. While the position is best suited for a surgeon with at least 5 years of experience, well trained fresh graduates will be considered. The surgeon will be supported by a team of seven thoracic surgeons in an exceptionally stable Department. Evaluate and diagnose lung and esophageal cancers. Perform general and advanced surgical procedures, including minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgeries, for the treatment of lung malignancies. Develop and oversee individualized treatment plans, integrating surgery, chemotherapy, and supportive care. Collaborate with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, and other specialists to provide comprehensive patient care. Participate in clinical trials and contribute to research initiatives aimed at improving outcomes in thoracic oncology. Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment options, and post-treatment care. Actively engage in tumor board discussions and case reviews to ensure optimal treatment planning. Maintain detailed and accurate documentation in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. Participate in community outreach and educational efforts to promote awareness of urologic cancers. Support survivorship care planning and long-term follow-up for patients’ post-treatment. Provide palliative care consultations and symptom management for patients with advanced or recurrent disease. Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical protocols and quality improvement initiatives. Engage in advocacy efforts to improve access to urology care at local, regional, and national levels.
Qualifications:
Holds Board Certification with the American Board of Thoracic Surgery Successful surgeon with at least five (5) years of experience. Exceptionally well trained fresh graduates will also be considered.
