Job Description

SummaryThis position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.

Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit their application within four months of appointment.

The award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the application.

Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

QualificationsTo qualify, applicants must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement.

Pending training or license requirements may be temporarily accepted, but employment is contingent upon meeting all requirements.

Current VA-employed physicians who met previous qualification standards at initial appointment are deemed to meet basic requirements.

Basic Requirements:

U.S.Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed if qualified citizens are unavailableDegree of MD or equivalent from an approved schoolCurrent unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S.Completion of residency training approved by the VA in an accredited program leading to board eligibilityFor residents enrolled in accredited programs, appointment as Physician Resident Provider is possible, but they must be fully licensed and only appointed on an intermittent or fee basisProficiency in spoken and written EnglishPhysical requirements as per VA Directive and Handbook 5019DutiesProvide comprehensive Gastroenterology care, including diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and patient education at the Rochester Calkins Clinic, with occasional travel to Canandaigua VA Medical CenterPerform standard GI procedures such as upper endoscopy (EGD) and colonoscopyServe on committees, participate in quality assurance programs, and support performance measuresManage patients with Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine conditionsProficient in and privileged for procedures related to GastroenterologyEvaluate and prioritize consult requests, develop treatment and follow-up plansAttend staff meetings, serve on committees, and participate in process improvement teamsMaintain competency through CME and complete mandatory VA trainingAdditional benefits include a comprehensive total rewards package, competitive salary, performance bonuses, paid time off, federal retirement plans, insurance options, licensure, CME reimbursement, malpractice coverage, and flexible work schedule.#J-18808-Ljbffr
