Position Overview We are currently seeking a skilled andcompassionate Neurologist to join our healthcare team on apart-time basis. The Neurologist will be responsible for diagnosingand treating neurological conditions, managing complex cases, andproviding educational support to patients to improve their healthoutcomes. This is a part-time position based at our communityhealth centers in the Hudson Valley, New York City, and LongIsland, offering an opportunity to serve an underserved populationwhile working in a collaborative environment. Essential Duties andResponsibilities Conduct comprehensive neurological evaluations andphysical assessments to diagnose neurological conditions, includingstroke, epilepsy, dementia, and other neurodegenerative disorders.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as MRIs, CT scans, EEGs,and other neurological assessments to formulate treatment plans.
Prescribe and manage treatment plans, including medications,lifestyle recommendations, and therapeutic interventions. Providepatient education on neurological disorders, including prevention,treatment options, and lifestyle modifications. Work closely withprimary care teams, behavioral health professionals, and otherspecialists to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
Document patient information accurately in electronic healthrecords (EHR) while adhering to legal and regulatory requirements.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure optimalpatient care and safety. Maintain required certifications andlicenses, including ABPN Neurology Certification, CPR/BLS-HCP, andactive DEA registration. Engage in continuing education andprofessional development to stay current with advancements inneurology. Minimum Education Requirement Doctor of Medicine (MD) orDoctor of Osteopathy (DO) with a focus on Neurology.
Board-certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatryand Neurology (ABPN). Minimum Work Experience 5-8 years of clinicalexperience as a Neurologist, preferably within a FederallyQualified Health Center (FQHC) or a similar healthcare setting.
Preferred Work Experience 8 years of experience in neurology with aproven track record of providing patient-centered care. Experiencein treating underserved populations or within community healthsettings is a plus. Licensure Active and unrestricted license topractice as a Neurologist in the State of New York. Boardcertification in Neurology by the ABPN. Current CPR/BLS-HCPcertification. Active DEA registration. Required Skills & KnowledgeProficient in diagnosing and managing a variety of neurologicalconditions. Expertise in interpreting diagnostic imaging and testsrelated to neurology. Strong analytical, problem-solving, anddecision-making abilities. Ability to provide compassionate andpatient-centered care. Excellent communication and interpersonalskills, with the ability to educate and collaborate with patientsand multidisciplinary teams. Ability to manage complex, high-volumecaseloads in a fast-paced environment. Bilingual skills(English/Spanish) are preferred but not required.
