Duties Description St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center (SLPC); a NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH) facility, is recruiting a Psychiatrist 3, who will serve as the Chief Medical Officer. The Psychiatrist 3 is responsible for the administration, oversight, evaluation, and continuous improvement of all psychiatric, medical, and contracted medical services provided by staff and consultants including:

  • Participation in overall executive management and strategic plan development
  • Oversight of the credentialing and privileging process
  • Development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures
  • Compliance with OMH, The Joint Commission (TJC), ACGME, and other external accrediting bodies’ standards, rules, and regulations
  • Promotion of culturally competent, person-centered, and recovery-focused care
  • Mentor and train psychiatry residents from SUNY Upstate Medical University The Psychiatrist 3 ensures that the clinical mission of SLPC is successfully aligned with the overall mission of OMH to promote the mental health and well-being of all New Yorkers so that they can reach their goal of recovery.

The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications 1. License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State AND 2. Certification in Psychiatry issued by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) AND 3. Two years of post-board certification experience as a member of the psychiatric staff in a psychiatric hospital and/or in the psychiatry department of a general hospital, one year of which must have included clinical supervision of other psychiatrists, psychiatric residents, or fellows AND 4. Eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs. Additional comments regarding the vacancy.
