Job Description
Diagnose and provide acute and urgent care to patients with emergent or acute illnesses and injuries. Order and interpret diagnostic tests. Perform complete and focused physical exams, and formulate treatment plans. Manage short- and long-term conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, COPD, asthma, and anemia. Provide out-patient clinical care within the Division of Internal Medicine, and provide out-patient medical consultations to other medical specialists or other non-medical disciplines, in the areas of general infectious diseases, emerging infectious diseases, HIV, host pathogen interactions, solid organ transplant infectious diseases, bone marrow transplant/oncology ID consultations, sexually transmitted infections (STI), and virology, coronavirus (SARS CoV2), cytomegalovirus (CMV), flaviviruses, influenza, and hepatitis. Evaluate patients, including taking appropriate medical history and conducting a physical examination, and review all pertinent laboratory, radiographic and pathological data. Counsel and educate patients and family members on health maintenance, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and need for follow up as appropriate during each patient visit.
Requirements:
Doctor of Medicine or foreign equivalent, plus 3-year residency
- in Internal Medicine, plus 2-year fellowship
- in Infectious Diseases.
- Internal Medicine clinical training must have included evaluating, diagnosing, and providing acute and urgent care to patients with emergent or acute illnesses; ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests; performing complete and focused physical exams; formulating treatment plans; managing short- and long-term medical conditions; counseling and educating patients and family members on health maintenance, disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment; providing initial and ongoing assessment of patients’ medical, physical and psychosocial states; recording progress and obtaining and reviewing medical history; and prescribing medication and therapies.
- Infectious Diseases clinical training must have included diagnosing and treating general infectious diseases, HIV, viral hepatitis, sexually transmitted infections, infections in transplant or immunocompromised population, and infections in immigrant health; and employing hospital epidemiology, infection prevention and control, microbiology, transplant infectious diseases, antibiotic utilization/restriction, and outpatient IV therapy in developing patient treatment plan.
- Must be eligible for New York State Medical License and have passed FLEX examination or equivalent (i.
e. NMBE III or
USMLE III
). Must be board certified by American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine.#
LI-DNI Salary:
$115,500-$135,500/year, plus performance-based clinical supplement.
