Job Description

Division Chief, Pediatric Endocrinology On behalf of Dr. Yatin Vyas, Department Chair of Pediatrics at Penn State Health , CareerPhysician, LLC, the leader in academic child health executive search and leadership development, is leading a national effort to identify a transformational and innovative leader to serve as the next Chief of Pediatric Endocrinology in Hershey, PA. The selected Chief will be charged with strategically expanding the clinical footprint for the division by developing programs and improving efficiency in the clinics, while also fostering an environment that enhances faculty opportunities for scholarly achievements in research and education. The department is committed to faculty growth with fiscal support to add two physician faculty (excluding the Chief) as well as two advanced practice providers.

Opportunity Highlights:

This is a tenured track eligible position for physician leaders who qualify and are eligible for the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. Join a growing team of 6 full-time providers, and a full complement of ancillary staff including 4 diabetic educators, 2 endocrine nurses, 2 dieticians, social workers, and administrative staff. Penn State Health Children’s Hospital which features an infusion center and the only level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. Boundless opportunities to develop focused clinics based on specific endocrine issues (e.g ., bone health ), or take part in multidisciplinary clinics (e.g ., long-term survivors of childhood cancer ). In addition, the division has adequate patient volume and willing collaborators to expand specialty clinics in “Diabetes variants” (e.g., MODY, medical diabetes, CF related diabetes, Muscular dystrophy related diabetes), “Endocrine aspects of genetic conditions” (e.g., new treatments for Prader Willi and achondroplasia, management of children with Klinefelters and Turners), and “Gender Health” which (given the current political environment) would focus on the differences of sexual differentiation.

Divisional strengths include:

modern and well-maintained facilities and clinics, superb faculty and ancillary support, novel diabetes education program, outstanding collaborations with peers in a multi-disciplinary clinic environment and on-site stimulation testing performed at the hospital’s infusion center. The current wait times for new patients is 48 days and wait times for return/follow-up patients is 90 days.

Requirements:
