Job Description

SummaryThis position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program.

You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.

Program approval, including award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years), is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the application.

Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

QualificationsTo qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement.

Applicants pending completion of training or licensing requirements may be considered tentatively but cannot be hired until all requirements are fulfilled.

Current VA-employed physicians who met the initial appointment requirements are deemed to have met the basic requirements.

United States Citizenship:

Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, per VA Policy.

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved medical school.

Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.

Residency Training:

Completion of an approved residency program leading to eligibility for board certification, with specific accreditation standards.

Residents enrolled in accredited programs are eligible for appointment as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and are appointed on a limited basis.

Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience:

Fellowship-trained urologic oncologist at associate professor level or above, with expertise in open and robotic surgery, and experience with advanced oncologic procedures such as post-chemotherapy retroperitoneal lymph node dissection, pelvic exenteration, and vena caval thrombectomy on cardiac bypass.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform activities without restrictions, including standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, lifting, and climbing stairs.

DutiesPerform both open and robotic urologic surgeries as a fellowship-trained oncologist at the associate professor level or higher.

Execute advanced oncologic procedures including post-chemotherapy retroperitoneal lymph node dissection, pelvic exenteration, and vena caval thrombectomy on cardiac bypass.

Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, with potential flexibility based on agency needs.
