Job Description
The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Health Partners is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible primary care physician to help grow its emerging Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) program.
This program combines clinical care and research to advance understanding and treatment of EDS and related conditions.
The selected individual will oversee all primary care clinical responsibilities within the EDS program.
We are seeking candidates with: MD or DO from an accredited medical school and completion of an approved residency program.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build consensus and engage physicians and patients.
An academic orientation, enthusiasm for teaching, passion for outreach, and interest in supporting research.
About the opportunity: Develop a community-based practice serving a unique patient population.
Dedicated clinic days and administrative time, with potential for medical directorship.
Practice co-located with multiple specialties and strong collaborative support.
Dedicated clinical support and a nurse navigator to coordinate care.
An integrated practice model with a robust internal referral network.
MUSC is currently receiving numerous new EDS patient referrals nationwide, driven by neurosurgical expertise.
The institution has the largest translational research lab investigating EDS, having identified the first disease gene for EDS, leading to animal models for studying disease mechanisms and therapies.
An established EDS genetic registry enabling large-scale population screening, providing clinical insights and diagnostic markers, and supporting long-term research programs.
Outreach and advocacy efforts have raised MUSC’s profile as a leader in EDS care and research, making it a destination center.
The newly established EDS genetics laboratory includes an innovation station for training future scientific leaders and healthcare professionals.
