JobSummaryTo provide the full scope of primary care services whichfall under his/her field of training, including but not limited todiagnosis, treatment, coordination of care, preventive care andhealth maintenance to patients. Conducts patient examination,prescribes medications, and provides consultation and medicaland/or surgical treatment to correct and/or treat variousconditions, illnesses and injuries. Accountabilities Depending on setting and specialty, provides surgical and/ornon-surgical work-up, diagnosis and treatment of patients. Educates patients on wellness, prevention and early detectionby providing materials and resources to patients and families. Provides appropriate consultations, referrals and follow-upcare based on patients’ needs. Exercises sound medical judgment in all issues of healthcare. Orders studies, tests and ancillary services. Utilizes electronic medical records including CPOE. Consults with Medical Director, other physicians or mid-levelproviders as needed regarding patient care, assessment andeducation issues. Participates in quality improvement, management, continuingeducation and other patient care programs established by hospitalor clinical requirements. Maintains confidentiality of all patient information accordingto federal guidelines and regulations. Upholds the standards of professionalism and remains dedicatedto clinical excellence. Supervisory/ManagementResponsibilityJob has direct and/or indirect supervision of teammembers that may include final budget authority, hire/terminationauthority, performance appraisal responsibility and disciplinaryauthority. Job will be considered a member of management staff atPrisma Health Company or affiliate and will have directreports.

Minimum RequirementsDoctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor ofOsteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from an accredited school required.

Work experience may NOT substitute for educationrequirement.

Completion of Residency. Depending on site, setting orspecialty, some years of experience may be required.

RequiredCertifications/Registrations/LicensesBoard Certified or BoardEligible in area of specialty, licensed to practice in the state ofSouth Carolina. BLS RequiredIn Lieu Of The Above MinimumRequirementsN/AOther Required Skills and ExperienceKnowledge of andability to apply professional medical principles, procedures andtechniques. Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used inthe treatment of patients. Effective verbal and writtencommunication skills along with proper telephone etiquetterequired.
