Rockland Children’s Psychiatric Center is recruiting for a psychiatrist 1 or Psychiatrist 2 or Psychiatrist 2 (Children & Youth). Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply. Rockland Children’s Psychiatric Center (RCPC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited facility, is recruiting Board Certified and Board Eligible Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist for their inpatient hospital located in Orangeburg, New York. Psychiatrists at RCPC are part of a multi-disciplinary team that provides comprehensive, patient-centered, and holistic team based care to children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbances including:

  • Conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments and patient admissions
  • Creating treatment plans including medication management
  • Obtaining and reviewing appropriate laboratory tests and consulting with members of treatment team as needed
  • Supervising Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellows from NYU
  • Attending NYU Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Grand Rounds The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy.

Minimum Qualifications Psychiatrist 1: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the ABPN. Psychiatrist 2: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN. Psychiatrist 2

Children & Youth:

License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN, and certification in child and adolescent psychiatry approved by the ABPN.

  • Limited permit option: If you are licensed in another state or by written examination in Canada, AND meet the other requirements for Psychiatrist 1 or 2, you are also eligible if you have a current limited permit to practice medicine in New York State.

If appointed, you must obtain your license within one year of the date your limited was issued. Failure to do so will result in removal from your position. Transfer Opportunity

  • Candidates must have one year of permanent service as a Psychiatrist 1 or Psychiatrist 2 or Psychiatrist (Children and Youth) to be eligible for lateral transfer.

Located in Orangeburg, NY, RCPC provides an intensive, family-based inpatient psychiatric treatment program with the goal of returning children to their families with minimal disruption. RCPC serves youth coming from hospital emergency rooms and youth transferred from acute care hospitals in the Hudson Valley area.
