The University of Missouri School of Medicine Department ofMedicine Division Chief of Gastroenterology & Hepatology All TracksAvailable The University of Missouri-Columbia, Department ofMedicine is seeking a Division Chief of Gastroenterology andHepatology. The incoming Division Chief will lead Divisioncontributions to the tripartite academic mission of research,education and clinical service. Leadership opportunities includebuilding and strengthening a large division with specializedservices, through clinical and academic programs. Active clinicalprograms include general GI, advanced therapeutic endoscopy,clinical hepatology, inflammatory bowel diseases and nutritionalsciences. NIH- and VA-funded research in the Division centers onmetabolic-associated fatty liver and mitochondrial dysfunction, andGI cancers, with a vibrant research environment and collaborationsacross the University of Missouri. The division hosts threefellowship programs, with twelve fellows. MU Health Care offersmore than 50 primary and specialty clinics and a comprehensivesystem of six hospitals. Required Qualifications 5+ years of demonstrated physician leadership MD/DO, Board-certified in Gastroenterology. Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited GI fellowship.
Overview of the Educational Program The ACGME-accreditedgastroenterology fellowship program has a long history ofgraduating outstanding gastroenterologists. Graduates of ourtraining program are in private practice and academic programsthroughout the country. Our program, which is accredited by theACGME, is designed to provide opportunities for fellows to developclinical competence in the broad field of gastroenterology,including hepatology, endoscopy, clinical nutrition, and GIoncology. In keeping with ACGME requirements, a minimum of 18months of clinical experience is required, including the equivalentof 5 months of hepatology. The other 18 months of training arededicated to elective fields of clinical training and to researchintended to enhance competency.
