Summary:

Vighter is recruiting multiple radiologists to provide service and medical support at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in Columbia, SC. The Radiologist is a licensed physician specializing in diagnosing and treating injuries and diseases using medical imaging techniques such as X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, nuclear medicine, PET, and ultrasound. This role requires interpreting imaging results, consulting with referring physicians, and occasionally performing image-guided procedures. This role involves rapid assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and coordination of care across all age groups, often in high-pressure and time-sensitive situations. The care would be given at the Columbia, SC VA, a state-of-the-art health care facility; and the standard of care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceeding all currently recognized national standards.

Principle Accountabilities:
  • Interpret diagnostic imaging studies and generate accurate, detailed radiology reports in a timely manner.
  • Consult with referring physicians to provide diagnostic insights and assist with treatment planning.
  • Supervise and collaborate with radiologic technologists and imaging staff to ensure high-quality image acquisition.
  • Perform or oversee image-guided procedures, such as biopsies, drainages, or injections, depending on specialty.
  • Ensure all imaging practices comply with safety regulations and radiation protection standards.
  • Participate in peer review, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain current knowledge of advancements in radiologic technology and best practices.
  • Use and ensure appropriate use of Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) and Radiology Information Systems (RIS).
  • Maintain compliance with all hospital, state, and federal regulations, including HIPAA.
Knowledge and Skills :

+ Must have exceptional customer service skills. + Employees shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the job requirements, including ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently. + Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment with limited supervision + Excellent organizational, scheduling and prioritization skills.

Education:

+ Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution. + Completion of an accredited radiology residency program. + Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Diagnostic Radiology (ABR or AOBR). + All continuing education courses required for maintaining certification must be kept up to date at all times.

Qualifications:

On-call Requirements:

+ The expected duty hours for this position are 8 hours per day and 5 days per week. However, this key position supporting 24/7/365 operations which will require rotating work schedules to be conducted in the day, at night, on weekends, and during holidays.
