JOB SUMMARY

The Clinical Staff Leader is a direct supervisory leadership roleand a key member of the Nursing leadership team. The CSL leads acohort of staff members and actively participates in overallmanagement of the unit, development of clinical practice, andprovision of patient care with accountabilities for implementationand outcomes for people leadership, quality, service, compliance,finance, throughput and scheduling. The primary focus of theClinical Staff Leader is to ensure the unit’s optimal performanceby engaging in effective problem solving for staff, patients andfamilies and to develop/lead the assigned cohort. The ClinicalStaff Leader provides feedback and coaching to staff members,recognizing them for their contributions while fostering a highperformance culture. The CSL works under the guidance and directionof the manager to develop. .

7pm-7am or 12pm-12am

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Interacts with and contributes to the professional developmentof their cohort and other staff as needed.
  • Defines standards for quality patient care.
  • Develops, manages and evaluates area based on work teamperformance.
  • Manages multiple projects/on-going work activities (timelines,work plans, deliverables) and maintains alignment with strategicplan and vision.
  • Acts as clinical leader and facilitates education for staff onclinical standards; routinely provides guidance/coaching tosubordinates/peers within clinical specialty(ies).
  • Ensures that clinical assignments are based on patient careneeds and demonstrated staff competencies.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES
  • Clinical Expertise (Intermediate): Demonstrates the mastery ofpatient care including patient assessment and treatment, careplanning, patient education and evidence based practice. Possessessufficient knowledge, training and expertise to role model andcoach less experienced staff.
  • Quality Management (Novice): Has provided continuous analysisand evaluation of assignment work processes, constantly strivingfor improvement in the way tasks and activities are accomplished byquestioning their value to the process and contributing creativesolutions.

Has participated in the process of establishing,communicating and monitoring standards for quality and excellence.
