Job Description
Psychiatrists will provide onsite mental health services at the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS) VA Medical Center, including both Nashville and Murfreesboro campuses. Providers will deliver comprehensive psychiatric care to veterans in outpatient settings, including diagnosis, medication management, psychotherapy, and collaborative treatment planning as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Responsibilities:
Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments of veterans presenting with mental health conditions. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in accordance with evidence-based guidelines. Provide medication management and psychotherapy interventions. Document clinical encounters and treatment plans in the VA’s electronic medical record system (CPRS). Collaborate with psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other team members in support of whole-health care. Participate in case reviews, multidisciplinary team meetings, and performance improvement activities. Ensure compliance with all VA, Joint Commission, and professional standards for psychiatric care. Respond to mental health crises as needed, including emergency evaluations or inpatient referrals.
Qualifications:
Education:
Graduate of an accredited medical school with completion of a Psychiatry residency program.
License:
Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state or territory.
Certifications:
Board Certification or Eligibility in Psychiatry – Required Basic Life Support (BLS) –
Required Experience:
2-3 years of recent outpatient or VA psychiatry experience preferred.
Other:
Must meet VA credentialing and privileging requirements and pass background checks.
