Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Neurologist (DO or MD) for a long-term contract position. This role is highly focused on direct patient care (estimated 98%) , requiring a broad range of neurological expertise to address the unique and diverse needs of the Veteran population. You will be responsible for both outpatient clinic services and inpatient/Emergency Department consultations, including comprehensive on-call coverage.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive clinical Neurologist services, including examinations, diagnoses, and treatment plans. Manage a daily caseload of approximately 30 patients in the clinic setting. Deliver consultative services at the patient’s bedside for non-ambulatory patients and in the outpatient clinic for others. Ensure procedures are scheduled for completion within 30 days of the consult date. Be responsible for ensuring appropriate professional Neurology coverage in the inpatient and Emergency Department settings when VA staff Neurologists are unavailable, coordinating evaluation, treatment, and overall medical management of eligible Veterans. Adhere strictly to all established medication policies and procedures. Participate in monthly staff meetings. Maintain timely patient care in accordance with VA Rules and Regulations on clinic wait times and consult completion.

On-Call Response Time:
Available for phone consultations with VA residents and physicians within 15 minutes, and on-site within 60 minutes.
Qualifications:
Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or Doctor of Medicine (MD) with a specialization in Neurology. 2+ years of experience preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required. Active and unrestricted medical license from any state (Federal position). Active DEA Registration. Must be able to prescribe medications. Proficiency with or willingness to learn CPRS (Computerized Patient Record System) EMR. Additional Credentialing Requirements (VA-Specific): VETPRO credentialing application (expect 1-2 months for completion). 3 professional references. Submission of case logs. Successful completion of a Federal security investigation with fingerprinting.
