Wellstar Towne Lake Pediatrics Job Summary:
This position will be part of the leadership team responsible for developing and implementing strategies to improve the health of defined populations while improving the effectiveness of delivery of health care services. Early initiatives will involve the development of programs and services for patients with complex medical and psychiatric co-morbidities. This position will be responsible for determining the appropriate model of integration of Behavioral Health services in population management, including the complex care clinics. Additionally, at times this position will function as an embedded BH professional providing direct patient care services. The position requires knowledge of national trends related to population health management and the knowledge of how to design and implement clinical programs. The job also requires data analysis capabilities and the understanding of how to interpret these data to shape new clinical paradigms and processes.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
CLINICAL
- Maintains a current knowledge of BH techniques that can be used to complement care provided to those with chronic medical conditions.
- Develops clinical health psychology groups focused on enhancing patient functioning
- Provides group-based health psychology services within complex care clinics
- Consults with members of a multi-disciplinary team regarding the psychologically-mediated aspects of a patients care plan
- Provides individual and couples therapy to patients with complex medical comorbidities
- Provides clinical supervision (as indicated) for graduate student interns, practicum students, and fellows
- Documents clinical (including supervisory) encounters in keeping with standards from the APA Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct
- Participates in monthly clinical meetings with other WellStar psychologists
PROGRAMMATIC
- Provides leadership and clinical expertise to support development of the models of care to be deployed in support of our Population Health Management initiatives.
- Develops policies and procedures related to care delivery in the complex care clinics
- Meets regularly with the Director of Psychology & Integrated Behavioral Health regarding clinical programming.
- Provides monthly reports regarding volume, population infusion, etc. to the Director of Psychology & Integrated Behavioral Health
- Develops mechanisms to ensure data collection for use in outcome and quality improvement analysis
- Involved in the development of training rotations for graduate students & fellows
TRAINING
- Provides education and training (as necessary) to members of the Population Health Management team with regards to evidence-based management of psychiatric patients
- Provides clinical supervision (when appropriate) to psychology graduate students, fellows, and other population management staff involved in the counseling services
RESEARCH
- Maintains an active research program, collaborating with graduate students and other WellStar psychologists to publish in peer-reviewed modalities
- Ensures familiarity and currency with respect to research protocols
- Understands concepts related to research and data capture
- Able to compile and abstract data in order to document resource consumption, cost avoidance, and clinical efficacy.

Required Minimum Education:
Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from a program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated. Psychologist Additional License(s) and Certification(s):
Required Minimum Experience:
Completion of an APA-accredited internship in a hospital/medical setting Required and formal training in clinical health psychology via the completion of a 1- or 2-year post doctoral fellowship with associated experiences Required or Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in a medical setting.
Required Required Minimum Skills:
Licensed Psychologist (or license-eligible) in the State of Georgia. Foundational clinical skills include basis knowledge of medical and psychiatric disease states, psychopharmacology, and evidence based treatments for complex populations. Familiarity with implementation science models, SPSS (or related programs) and the ability to conduct basic descriptive and inferential statistics is required.
